Lief! modern Dutch design with a traditional twist

Lief! (Dutch for sweet) is a relatively new Dutch brand that is becoming increasingly popular. Considering their clean modern designs, which are inspired by traditional symbols such as clogs or windmills, this is really not surprising. The combination is simply great, as all Lief! designs are simply beautiful. They offer a wide variety of products, for example clothes, nursery decor and toys. All items are made in a wonderful style, unique to Lief! Here is a small selection:

Fortunately, even if you are nowhere near the Netherlands to visit one of their stores, they also have a webshop , which also accepts credit cards, something quite unusual I have come to notice, as most Dutch shops I have surfed so far only accept payment via the Dutch iDeal platform. Unfortunately though, I cannot find an Engish version of the site. But as there is not much text to read, I assume you will do just fine, and otherwise you can always access Lief! via the google translator. E.g. quilt € 99.95, coat hanger € 17.95, night light € 5.95. Currently, they also have several nice items on sale, up to 70% off!

All things Danish: Cool Viking shirts from Danefae

Denmark is not only a country, it’s also the theme for today’s posts, well not so much the country, rather Danish children’s design, and there are quit a few nice companies!  I start the day with the really cool and also slightly retro clothes manufacturer Danefae.  And yes, again retro, but all Skandinavian children’s apparel has a nice dose of retro blended in.

They have some awesome designs and are especially known for their Viking themed prints, which is also their logo.  But they do have some other great designs, such as an apple tree and a mermaid, though my absolute favorite is their Viking head.  Plus, they don’t only have cool Viking shirts, and not only for kids, they have everything, the whole range, and for everyone.  So from onesies to coats, from baby to adult, everything is available in their webshop (yes, they even have a webshop, with international delivery, too)!  So go and rock some Viking fashion!

Check out their webshop, e.g. long sleeve shirt for kids or onesie €30.75 each.

It’s all about the patterns: Eliza Gran’s vintage fashion

…and of course about the timeless vintage cuts as well, and the gorgeous vintage fabrics, and overall, do I have to mention that vintage is written all over these clothes? 😉
OK, I suppose I’ve let the cat out of the bag again! It’s vintage day! 🙂 I’ve come up with some pretty sweet things again, and I just had to start the day with Eliza Gran. Funny enough, some time ago I read this great interview of Eliza Gran on B:Kids, Irene Hoofs’ children’s design blog (check it out for yourselves, it’s really great, a lot of Dutch and vintage inspired design), and at about the same time, there was also a post on the Celebrity Baby Blog about a sighting of Cindy Crawford and her daughter Kaia, and the whole blog went crazy about Kaia’s dress. To make it short, I really knew I had found something great, something that had to be shared with you.  So voilà, here are some pictures of the current collection:

Available in the Eliza Gran online store, e.g. Kaia’s dress (1st picture) for $76.00, however only infant sizes 3 and 6 months still available.  But check out the fall 2007 collection, there are some great discounts available, and Eliza’s designs are truly timeless, so you can well buy your winter collection ahead of time and let the kids wear them later.

Now that the nursery is all decorated with playful items, the only thing that needs a bit of a make-over is your daughter’s wardrobe.  And with the great designs by Lola et Moi, you really can’t go wrong because this brand’s main characteristics are bold colors and retro-cuteness.  Their clothes also have a certain summer vibe to them, just perfect for the season.

And the good news is, there’s no need for moms to envy their daugthers’ looks, they can get the same hip style for themselves: Lola et Moi also has some fashion and accessories suitable for adults.  So the two of you can look gorgeous in a mommy and me outfit for your next beach-party or barbecue!

Plastisock: Sunny fashion for a sunny Sunday!

There is something about Scandinavian design that is simply intriguing:unique patterns in fresh colors without the tipical frills often seen on children’s apparel.  Instead, these clothes will not only become a child’s favorite, but a parent’s too!  How great is that:  no little bunnies or bears constantly gaping at you, and all made of quality material, sure to last many years of wear and tear.

An excellent example of the advantages of Scandinavian children’s fashion is Plastisock.  Admittedly, they have a strange sounding name, but their designs are truly unique.  And to top it of, Plastisock’s design motivation was to overcome the gender divide in kids’ fashion.  So now, boys and girls can be dressed equally in style.  This is good news for parents, as Plastisock hand-me-downs will look great on any new addition to the family.
