I know it’s only summer now, but back to school sales start much earlier than fall. So if you want to spice up your kids’ school supplies and are looking for some really out of the ordinary bags with a French vintage feel to them, I have the perfect items for you here. And even better: there are also great totes, satchels and other items for adults, not just for kids! I bet the bigger ones would make great diaper bags, too!

They produce a range of children’s accessories, mainly bags of all kinds and sizes, from book bags to lunch bags, handbags, shoulder bags… They are all beautifully crafted, most are in leather, and many also have French prints on the top flap.

Nostalgic alphabet poster by Binth

My last alphabet pick comes from design studio Binth. It’s alphabet poster is inspired by mid-century Danish animal toys and will look great in any modern nursery with its simple design and muted colors. What makes this artwork so great is that even though the vintage toy designs are very much suited for little children, it is not childish and in fact so classy and modern at the same time, that it will be a beautiful decoration for many years to come. The beautiful letters are also available individually, so you can also spell out your child’s name, e.g. The poster is screen-printed, 24×40” and can be bought either framed or unframed:

Binth also has several other great children’s items in classical modern style worth taking a look, e.g a precious babybook, a colorful number print and a gorgeous memory game:

Check out their website for more great designs, they have gorgeous prints for adults as well!
Available at Binth , unframed $85.00, framed $375.00, babybook $110.00, number print unframed $55.00, framed $225.00, memory game $44.00.

Beds, dolls and more from Mies en Moos

OK, I guess I am sort of stuck on Dutch design right now, so here comes another one! Actually, I do feel a little bad providing you that link, as the Mies en Moos website is only available in Dutch and oh so ‘smartly’ designed that their webpresence merely consists of screen-size jpgs, so the google translator won’t work. But their products are beautiful, so I just could not keep them to myself.

Aren’t these dolls called Lijsje (Caucasian girl), Gijs (boy) and Lin (Asian girl) adorable? Lijsje is available in several haircolors and hairstyles, and always wears a unique dress. All dolls are 73cm tall. Custom-made dolls are also available, e.g. to resemble your child; it is even possible to ask for a handicapped doll.

There are even two doll beds available for Lijsje and her friends. What’s even better, the beautiful bedding can be bought, too.

The beautiful wooden bed you see is called Ella’s bed and is available in toddler and twin size. Custom-made cribs and cradles are also available in the Ella design.

I think this girls closet called Ella’s kast (kast=closet) is simply beautiful and works very well in a country style interior, and of course in combination with the matching bed. Standard closet: 200cmx100cmx60cm, one side clothes rail, other side shelves, but it can also be custom-made, and there’s also a Chinese style closet available.

Mies and Moos do not offer a real webshop, but you can order via email (info@miesenmoos.com). Ella’s kast starting from € 595.00, Ella’s bed: toddler size € 299.00, twin size € 349.00, dolls €34.95 each, cast-iron doll bed € 74.95, wooden doll bed € 49.95, doll bedding € 19.95. Unfortunately though, I have to curb your enthusiasm, because they say furniture can only be picked up and will not be delivered by mail (this of course does not include the doll beds).

Cuteness packed into crochet and polka dots: Franck & Fischer

We continue our Danish tour by moving further along to Franck & Fischer‘s adorable creations.  The company was founded in 2004 by fashion designer Annemarie Franck and businesswoman Charlotte Fischer.  Due to their wonderful child-friendly designs, inspired by vintage images and childhood-memories, in addition to the fair-trade production Franck and Fischer uses, the company has been able to estalish a wide reputation in such a short period of time.  Among others, the product range includes soft toys, bags and pillows.

And now, before I rattle on even further, just take a look, because you really have to see these charming faces.  They do create vintage and child-hood souvenir items to perfection, don’t they?  Just so precious and absolutely adorable, each and every one of them!

Available at Scandezign, e.g. crochet rattle$23.00.

It’s all about the patterns: Eliza Gran’s vintage fashion

…and of course about the timeless vintage cuts as well, and the gorgeous vintage fabrics, and overall, do I have to mention that vintage is written all over these clothes? 😉
OK, I suppose I’ve let the cat out of the bag again! It’s vintage day! 🙂 I’ve come up with some pretty sweet things again, and I just had to start the day with Eliza Gran. Funny enough, some time ago I read this great interview of Eliza Gran on B:Kids, Irene Hoofs’ children’s design blog (check it out for yourselves, it’s really great, a lot of Dutch and vintage inspired design), and at about the same time, there was also a post on the Celebrity Baby Blog about a sighting of Cindy Crawford and her daughter Kaia, and the whole blog went crazy about Kaia’s dress. To make it short, I really knew I had found something great, something that had to be shared with you.  So voilà, here are some pictures of the current collection:

Available in the Eliza Gran online store, e.g. Kaia’s dress (1st picture) for $76.00, however only infant sizes 3 and 6 months still available.  But check out the fall 2007 collection, there are some great discounts available, and Eliza’s designs are truly timeless, so you can well buy your winter collection ahead of time and let the kids wear them later.

Cavallini vintage stationery and office supplies

Since today’s vintage theme refers to a time, when people still used ink and paper to write letters (remember that part from You’ve Got Mail, when Tom Hanks is told by his grandfather how keeping in touch worked in the old days?) it is only right to include a post on vintage stationery and office supplies.

And I found just the perfect company with San Francisco based Cavallini & Co.  Their vintage inspired products depict animal and travel themes, such as drawings of butterflies and famous sights in Paris, and they are oh so beautiful and charming!  Cavallini’s products range from stationery to stickers, magnets, rubber stamps and much more.  All of it has this really nice vintage vibe to it, which gives you the feeling of entering a bygone world.  They make such pretty accessories for a girly girls room, by giving the room some class instead of kitsch – and are equally suitable for mom as well!  I can perfectly see little children going crazy if the postman brings them their own vintage mail!  With the Cavallini stamp kit, they can send grandma or their favorite doll a wonderful self-made letter, and learning their ABCs has never been more beautiful, than with their gorgeous alphabet cards!  So much beauty, I bet mom can’t take her eyes of these wonderful designs either, so you better get a calendar or some fridge magnets for yourself as well!

Available at Kate’s Paperie, e.g. stamps $30.00, small notebook $12.00

Schylling toys: Let grandpa get nostalgic

Today’s feature is still missing one important thing, that part children care about the most, the toys that is.  The most affordable source for great vintage reproductions I could find is Schylling.  They really have some sweet tin toys and ride -ons that will make grandpa wish he were a little boy again, just so he could hop on that little racer like he used to in the good old days.  So letting your little ones bring along their nostalgic toys the next time you visit the grandparents may initiate some great story-telling and reminiscence of their favorite childhood memories.  And I bet your kids will find it quite fascinating to hear about a world of non electric, non-battery operated toys.  Schylling’s old-style robot toys on the other hand are just the right thing to make dad go back in time.  So whichever you chose, nostalgic fun is guaranteed!  But if you don’t care for a historic chit-chat, Schylling’s range of classical toys is fun to play with anyhow, and a real eyecatcher in the playroom, too, one you will be proud to put on the shelves, and don’t want to be hidden away in a toy box.

Available in Schylling’s online shop, ride-on $ 79.99, carousel $ 24.99, robot $ 17.99, plane $ 14.99.

Now that the nursery is all decorated with playful items, the only thing that needs a bit of a make-over is your daughter’s wardrobe.  And with the great designs by Lola et Moi, you really can’t go wrong because this brand’s main characteristics are bold colors and retro-cuteness.  Their clothes also have a certain summer vibe to them, just perfect for the season.

And the good news is, there’s no need for moms to envy their daugthers’ looks, they can get the same hip style for themselves: Lola et Moi also has some fashion and accessories suitable for adults.  So the two of you can look gorgeous in a mommy and me outfit for your next beach-party or barbecue!
